My favorite little fortress island in Europe: green and grassy, idyllic and calm, not too big, not too small, perfect for exploring in one afternoon. Now if only we had remembered to pack a picnic and bring along a frisbee.

My characteristic squint.

The fort itself had been barely used, so the walls were intact and rooms were even dry and non-musty.

Purple, yellow, white wildflowers peek out between the stones to greet the sun. I love how the tops of the fort walls are covered with grass.

Looking through a door.

Looking through a window.

Much nicer than the Sutro baths in San Francisco.

Feel the ocean breeze and the hills alive with the sound of music.

A wet skirt after falling into the Baltic.

See, slippery.

Canadian geese.

I'm a giant next to the windmill and Hello Kitty chairs.

Stone wall arch perfection.

Erno looking out over the shipyard.

The Silja Serenade ferried me overnight to Stockholm. With 13 decks, it is larger than the Titanic.

Posh inside, complete with pod-like elevators.

Wow. Do American cigarette packs look like this?

I had a four-bunk cabin with fancy bathroom all to myself. Best night of sleep in months. €38 well spent!
Hi, Vera! Scandanavia sounds great! Unfortunately, my travels have ended (BOO!), so I must return to reality. I can't wait to live vicarously through your blog. Have lots of fun and keep blogging!
ReplyDeletePS Redang was great. The coral were truly amazing, and the marine life wasn't bad either. As it was also too expensive for me, I actually just dove it on daytrips from Perhentian (I was also on Besar...partying on Long Beach and Kecil wasn't really my thing :).
Hi,Vera,
ReplyDeleteI got the link of your blog from uncle.
